About us
Rentman is a B2B SaaS scaleup building smart, powerful operations management platform for event and production teams. Our users plan everything from small shoots to massive festivals in 70+ countries - and they all rely on Rentman to keep their gear, people, and timing perfectly in sync. Check out our public roadmap to see what’s coming next. We’re based in Utrecht (NL) with a second office in Toronto (CA), and our team includes 120+ people from 30+ nationalities. We work in English, and our culture is open, inclusive, and flat - built on curiosity, ownership, and the freedom to challenge ideas.
Mission of the role
As our People Generalist, you’re the on-site People contact for our Toronto office, three days a week. You run onboarding and offboarding, you’re the go-to person for People questions, keep an eye on how the team is doing and pick up early signals on engagement. And you keep the office running well and make it a nice place to be.
Our Toronto office is growing, and it’s ready for its own People presence. People processes and Canadian compliance are coordinated from our HQ in Utrecht (NL); you bring them to life locally, keep HQ informed of what’s happening on the ground, and bring the Toronto perspective back to Utrecht. That way, Toronto always feels part of one Rentman, not an afterthought. You’ll report to our Head of People & Legal and work closely with the managers in our Toronto office. Day to day, you’ll also collaborate with our People Operations Specialist and Office Operations Manager in Utrecht.
It’s a hands-on role that combines office operations with People work, with the chance to explore different areas of People along the way.
What you'll do
Be the first point of contact for People questions in Toronto, responding quickly and routing policy, legal and payroll topics to the right owner in Utrecht.
Bring People programmes to life locally, such as our engagement survey, Culture Talks and learning initiatives.
Prepare and run on-site onboarding and offboarding, from IT, access and a buddy on day one through to exit conversations.
Act as the on-site contact for payroll, pension and benefits, providing local input to our People Operations team.
Spot early signals on engagement, wellbeing and fit, and share them with the right manager and People partner.
Keep both offices connected by translating company and People updates to the Toronto context and sharing a monthly Toronto update with HQ.
Run the Toronto office in line with our shared workplace standards, covering suppliers, facilities, safety, budget and regular team events.
Support the upcoming office move, gathering input, preparing options and coordinating the move on site.
Document recurring processes and suggest smart ways to automate repetitive work.
Who you are
You have 2+ years of experience in an HR Coordinator, HR Generalist or People Operations role, including hands-on onboarding and offboarding.
You have a working knowledge of Ontario employment standards, enough to recognise when something needs to go to Legal.
You’re available to work on site in Toronto 3 days a week (up to 24 hours per week).
You’re fluent in written and spoken English and use AI tools confidently in your daily work.
Who thrives here
You’re a warm, approachable self-starter who works independently, knows when to escalate, and handles sensitive information with discretion. You welcome change, keep things structured, and enjoy being part of one team, even when your teammates are six hours ahead.
Nice to haves
You’ve worked in a tech or SaaS scale-up, or in a satellite office of a company headquartered abroad.
You have experience in office management, workplace or events, ideally including an office move.
You’ve worked with Personio or a comparable HRIS.
You’ve built simple automations, for example with AI tools, to take repetitive work off your plate.
What you'll get
Competitive salary based on experience, plus 8% holiday allowance
A results-based bonus based on company performance (up to a full 13th month's salary)
25 vacation days to recharge
Earn an extra day of PTO for each year at Rentman, from your second anniversary up to five years

Please note: the benefits listed above are based on a full-time position (40 hours per week). As this role is 24 hours per week, salary, holidays and your pension will be prorated. We’re unable to offer visa sponsorship, so applicants must already be eligible to work in Canada.
