About the Role
Do you enjoy helping customers, solving problems, and keeping multiple requests organized? As a Sales Support Specialist at Opendoor, you’ll help buyers, sellers, and agents navigate the closing process through clear communication and dependable follow-through.
Most of your day will involve communicating directly with customers and agents by phone, email, and chat: answering questions, providing updates, and following up on outstanding requests. You’ll coordinate with Title and internal teams, manage multiple transaction files, maintain accurate records, and make sure each request has a clear owner and next step.
Your work allows sales advisors to focus on buying and selling homes while customers receive consistent support. As the team grows, you’ll also help improve everyday processes using approved tools and AI.
What You’ll Need
- Experience personally handling external customer questions, service issues, or escalations by phone, email, or chat, including follow-up through resolution.
- Experience managing multiple cases, requests, or transactions with competing deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining complicated issues in plain language.
- Experience using a CRM, ticketing system, or transaction-management platform to track activity and follow-ups.
- Sound judgment about prioritizing requests, resolving routine issues, and escalating when another team’s help or approval is needed.
- Ability to learn new systems and adapt to changing processes.
Who You Are
- Customer-focused. You listen carefully, clarify the concern, and help people understand what happens next.
- Proactive and dependable. You follow up, identify missing information, and keep requests moving.
- Organized and accurate. You track deadlines, maintain clear notes, and manage competing priorities.
- A calm communicator. You handle difficult conversations professionally and set realistic expectations.
- Adaptable and coachable. You apply feedback and learn new tools and processes.
- Interested in improving how work gets done. You look for practical ways to reduce repetitive work while maintaining accuracy.
What You’ll Do
- Communicate with customers and agents: Personally answer questions by phone, email, and chat, provide proactive updates, and explain next steps throughout the closing process.
- Coordinate closing activities: Work with Title and internal teams to follow up on documents, requests, and outstanding issues.
- Resolve and escalate blockers: Handle routine operational issues and bring approval-dependent or complex requests to the appropriate owner.
- Manage your transaction queue: Prioritize time-sensitive work and maintain clear follow-ups across multiple open files.
- Maintain accurate records: Keep transaction statuses, customer communications, owners, and next actions current in our systems.
- Improve everyday workflows: Identify recurring issues and suggest changes that reduce delays, repeated requests, and manual work.
Workflow Innovation
You’ll help identify recurring customer questions, stalled handoffs, and repetitive tasks, and suggest practical ways to improve service and follow-through. Approved AI and workflow tools can help organize information, draft updates, and support follow-ups. You’ll check outputs for accuracy before using them.
Customer communication and transaction support are the core responsibilities. Experience building automations is a bonus; practical curiosity, willingness to learn, and examples of improving a process are valuable.
Bonus
- Experience in transaction coordination, title, escrow, real estate support, account servicing, or customer-facing operations.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Familiarity with Salesforce, Zendesk, Slack, or similar customer-support and workflow tools.
- Experience using AI or simple automation to improve customer service or administrative work.
